Meet our Shine on Amazon Grand Prize Winner: Beck’s Broth!

We’re excited to announce the grand prize winner of Beacon Commerce’s first Shine on Amazon contest: Beck’s Broth, a category-bending bone broth-based drinks brand!

Beck’s Broth is making waves with three decadent and nourishing bone broth products: a rich hot chocolate, a smooth instant coffee and a creamy matcha.

Each cup delivers 15 grams of protein from organic, grass-fed bone broth for a daily gut health and protein boost.

“We always wanted to start an Amazon store but you hear quite often that sometimes they’re not profitable and brands don’t set them up correctly,” said Beckie Prime, the founder and CEO of Beck’s Broth.

“We are incredibly excited and grateful for this opportunity to work with Beacon Commerce on our Amazon launch.”

“I let out a good ole scream when I heard the news,” added her business partner Domenique Mastronardi, the company’s Chief Operating Officer. “This goes such a long way for us.”

An ideal combination of brand, product and business stage

An appealing brand, great-tasting products and marketplace momentum make Beck’s Broth a natural choice as the Shine on Amazon grand prize winner, said Beacon founder Don Thompson.

“They have incredible early-stage momentum that an Amazon presence will accelerate,” he said.

“It’s an excellent product with a rich and creamy taste and texture, and the brand is elegant and well positioned as a premium product. Plus, they are getting into retail and onto other online ecommerce platforms, so the timing is right to take on Amazon as part of their omnichannel strategy.”

“Amazon was this big scary beast that they didn’t know how to approach,” he added. “They weren’t sure they could afford it right now but they felt they needed to do it. We’re very happy to make it possible for them.”

The grand prize package includes Beacon’s Amazon Power Up services (Account management + PPC ad management) to launch on Amazon Canada this month, plus ongoing pay-per-click advertising and account management for six months through to spring of 2025.

Beck’s Broth will also receive $1,000 from Natural Products Canada to support their advertising spend.

Gearing up for Amazon launch day

The Beacon team is now working behind the scenes with Beck’s Broth to get their products Amazon-ready.

That includes developing the most profitable strategy.

At Don’s recommendation, Beck’s Broth products will be available in a five-pack configuration on Amazon for better economics and an approachable price point.

“Beck’s Broth will also use Amazon multi-channel fulfillment (MCF) for their 12-packs sold through their Shopify store,” said Beacon brand manager Dajana Pavlovic.

“It’s less expensive for them to send their products to Amazon for fulfillment than to do it themselves. Customers get fast, free shipping and Beck’s Broth saves time and money.”

Omni-channel strategy

Amazon will also increase exposure for Beck’s Broth, which is available in 50+ retail locations.

“Amazon is the default ecommerce search engine,” Don explains. “By driving reviews of their product and their brand on the Amazon platform, they will build additional customer trust on Amazon, in retail and on their Shopify site.

“Today we shop with our phones in our hands. When you see a brand that you’re curious about, it’s natural to check the price and check the reviews on Amazon. You can then make a decision right there to purchase the product.”

A whirlwind year of big wins

The Shine on Amazon grand prize is another win in a big year for Beck’s Broth.

Earlier this year, Beck was awarded the Canadian Health Food Association’s 2024 One To Watch Award.

The duo also pitched on Dragon’s Den in May and will know soon if the segment is going to air.

Their Amazon launch will add another important chapter to the Beck’s Broth growth story.

“I love everything about this brand,” says brand manager Dajana, who is leading development of all the content and coordinating the behind-the-scenes activities for the launch.

“Beck and Dom are smart, savvy business  women, and it’s an opportunity and privilege to work with them. This brand is going places.”
